:  a point on the abdominal wall that lies between the navel and the right anterior superior iliac spine and that is the point where most pain is elicited by pressure in acute appendicitis

Biographical Note for MCBURNEY'S POINT

McBurney, Charles (1845–1913), American surgeon. A pioneer in the diagnosis and treatment of appendicitis, McBurney first described the pressure point used in the diagnosis of appendicitis in 1889. It was subsequently named in his honor.
